Platform

This is where you select which ad platform you want you rule to run on:

  • Facebook (inc. Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network)
  • Snapchat

Both platforms have different metrics and naming conventions, so you can only select one.

Advertising Accounts

Once you've selected either Facebook or Instagram, you'll be presented with a list of your available ad accounts for that platform.

This is where you choose the ad account(s) you want your rule to apply to.

If you select multiple ad accounts, TrustAds will create one rule for each ad account selected.

Ad Level

Here you select whether your want your rule to run on your Campaigns, Ad Sets/Squads or Ads.

Rules are most common for Ad Sets/Squads and Ads. This is because split testing often takes place at these levels, and budgets and bids are set at the Ad Set/Squad level.

Status

This is where you select the status of your chosen ad set (above) that you want your rule to run on.

In Facebook you can choose:

  • Active
  • Paused
  • Archived
  • Deleted

In Snapchat you can choose:

  • Active
  • Paused

The majority of rules are run on a status of active and paused.

Schedule

Timezone

This field will automatically populate based on your selected ad account(s)' timezone settings.

You may change this if you wish, however it is not recommended, as it will make reports harder to reconcile.

Time Period

Here you'll select what time period you want the rule to consider when applying your chosen action:

  • Predefined date ranges
  • Days
  • Weeks
  • Months

Your selection here will influence the fields available in the next section.

Predefined date ranges is the most popular selection here.

Date Preset

Predefined date ranges will allow you to choose common date presets such as 'Today, Yesterday, Last X days, Last Quarter, Lifetime".

If you select Days, Weeks or Months as your time period, this field will populate with the number you can choose, e.g. 1-6 days, 1-4 weeks.

Your rule will consider your chosen fields and metrics during this time frame only. Your chosen action will only be taken if your criteria is met during this time.

Metrics

Screenshot 2019-02-04 10.12.46

This is where you select which metric(s) you want your rule to consider before taking action.

Metrics are those found in Facebook/Snapchat reporting, e.g. ROAS, ROI, CTR, Number of X, Cost per Y etc.

You can then set the value and operator of your metric. E.g. 'Less than X' 'Greater than or equal to Y' 'Contains Z'.

You can combine multiple metrics by selecting the '+' button or remove unwanted metrics with the '-' button.

Select your metrics based on those that are most important to you, or those that you generally report on/take action on.

Select your operators and values based on historical data, benchmark data or business determined figures, e.g. maximum you're willing to spend per acquisition.
